Where will you fly next?
To join the RAF you’ll need to following criteria.
Be a full time student at an affiliated university - not foundation year students.
Have at least 5 terms left on your course.
Physically fit - Are able to pass an RAF fitness test.
British Citizen, British National for 5 years, Republic of Ireland Citizen.
British Citizens should normally have resided in the UK for the past 3 years.
Commonwealth Citizens should have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.
Male
Bleep test level 9.10
20 press-ups in 1 minute
35 sit-ups in 1 minute
Female
Bleep test level 7.02
10 press-ups in 1 minute
32 sit-ups in 1 minute
Swimming test: swim 100m and tread water for minutes (for some AT activities)
Successful applicants will undertake a medical examination to the RAF Ground Branch Officer standard. Appointments will be arranged at a surgery local to their College wherever possible. The following criteria will preclude applicants from service (get in contact if you have further questions, and make note in the appropriate box below):
Allergies and Skin Disorders
Chest and Breathing Disorders
Diabetes
Drug/Alcohol Misuse
Epilepsy
Heart Disease
Nervous System Disorders
Psychiatric Disorders
Physical Disability
Vision Disorders
Note: Asthma, Hay fever and Migraine may also preclude entry to the RAF Volunteer Reserve.
